Car

8 February, 2006

My first car was a Daihatsu 55 Wide, bought by my Abi (father) when I was in the third class of Aliyah (Senior High School) in 1979. A car that always made me “cry” when I drove it to Puncak because the capacity of the engine was only 550 CC. It ran like a turtle, and the other drivers behind had to be very patient, waiting to pass me, when the traffic was crowded. Compared to my Carnival (2.450 cc) the engine was so so small.

Then I used a Toyota Kijang Pickup, bought in 1985. I changed the tires with the wide ones and made the suspension low. My Abi (father) had to think very hard, trying to understand why I chose that kind of car. At that time it was really a “mode” car for young people. It was used until 1986, then I changed it to a Suzuki Carry. This car was certainly more comfortable for my wife who was expecting our first baby at that time.

After using this Suzuki for long time I changed my car to Mazda 626. This car is the one and only “firtatious” car in Indonesia. (Imagine a firtatious girl saying ” Maaass, daaaagggg”).

Then came the time when people talked and argued about a “made in Indonesia” car: Timor. It was really a (relatively) cheap car, but people had no idea about its quality. When I asked my father about it, he suggested to buy it. Because the price was relatively low (compared to the other-same-type cars) I bought two. One was for me, and the other one was for my youngest brother.

I still use this car till today .. But it is so small for my 5 children family that I had to buy another sufficient one: a Carnival. Thank God for every rizqi my family gets ..

Happy New Hijri Year 1427.
